Nowra’s $15 m Motor Race Tracks Could Start In 18 Months

Construction on Nowra's planned $15 million motor racing complex could start within 18 months.

To be located on the Braidwood Road at Yerrinong the complex will include car and bike racing and driver training bitumen tracks to the east of the existing bike tracks.

The current Nowra Motor Cycle club facility would be upgraded for dirt track racing and may also include a new speedway.

Guests at the launch of the project have been told other uses could include cross country running, cycle riding and subject to approval, rock concerts.

The project will be developed by Motor Cycling New South Wales, and president Christine Tickner says it has the potential to be one of Australia's best.

Mayor Paul Green says the Yerriong complex will plough at least $5 million a year into the local economy and diversify the areas tourism base

Multi Million Dollar Sub Division Approved Near Cambewarra

Shoalhaven Council has approved plans for a multi million dollar sub division between North Nowra and Cambewarra. 59 lots, ranging in size from 4,000 to 4,300 square metres, will be created on a 48ha site located between Illaroo Road and the Shoalhaven River. The owners are planning a staged development, on an extension of Tallimba Road between Tapitallee and Bangalee. An application for the project was submitted 7 years ago, but was only approved yesterday. Threatened Species Could Kill $15M Motor Sport Track

Yerriyong and Parma residents believe there are more than a dozen threatened flora and fauna species at the site of a proposed $15 million motor race track near HMAS Albatross. To be designed for car and bike racing, the circuit is planned by Motor Cycling New South Wales for a site off the Braidwood Road. Jobless Figures Plunge To New Depths

A new breakdown of unemployment figures shows the jobless rate in Shoalhaven and Wingecarribee is now around double that of the next worst effected area in New South Wales. The numbers have been crunched by the Federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. Shoalhaven and Wingecarribee have jobless figures of almost 12%, with pockets of more than 13%, and a youth unemployment rate of 21%.
