Milton Scarecrow Festival This Weekend

scarecrow festival Finishing touches are being added this morning to the stars of   the Milton scarecrow festival, which is on this long weekend

Theme for this year's scarecrows  is Heroes.

In addition to the scarecrows there will be  street performers , and  markets

The main festival activities are on Sunday and a ghost scarecrow walk has been planned for tomorrow night (SAT) Night

Organiser Kathy Dunn says there will be plenty to do

Sanctuary Point Man In Court Over Armed Robberies

A Sanctuary Point man has been charged in relation to armed robberies at Wollongong and Sydney earlier this year. Police allege that three people armed with a pistol and a knife allegedly threatened staff at a Port Kembla hotel on April 29 and allegedly escaped with a quantity of cash. The same hotel was held up by three people on May 22 and a sum of cash taken. Lehman Blocks Moves To Compensate Wingecarribee Council

It could be another two years before Wingecarribee Council receives any money from its legal battle with failed overseas investment bank, Lehman Brothers. Seventy two Australian councils, charities, churches and private investors nearly lost everything when Lehman Brothers went bankrupt during the global financial crisis. The Federal Court ruled the bank had misled them so was liable for their losses. Calls For DPP To Explain Charge Downgrade In Kelly Case

Premier Barry O'Farrell says he shares community concern about a plea-bargain with the killer of Kings Cross bashing victim, Thomas Kelly. 19 year old Kieran Loveridge has been allowed to plead guilty to the manslaughter of the Bowral teenager but the Kelly family believes he should have been tried for murder.
