Saturday, 09 June 2012 04:56

gold There could be a lot more gold surrounding a new mine on the upper reaches of the Shoalhaven River than first thought.

The Perth based Cortona resources plans to begin mining its Majors Creek deposit near Braidwood next year.

However the company has now made a series of prospective finds up to 20KM from the planned mine site, which are in the process of being investigated.

The Majors Creek resource will be accessed via a decline, with gold ore to be hauled to the surface in specialist trucks and then processed in a new treatment plant. Up to 330,000 tonnes of ore will be treated per annum, producing 50,000 ounces of gold.
