Braidwood Gold Mine Proves Better Than Expected

There could be a lot more gold surrounding a new mine on the upper reaches of the Shoalhaven River than first thought.

The Perth based Cortona resources plans to begin mining its Majors Creek deposit near Braidwood next year.

However the company has now made a series of prospective finds up to 20KM from the planned mine site, which are in the process of being investigated.

The Majors Creek resource will be accessed via a decline, with gold ore to be hauled to the surface in specialist trucks and then processed in a new treatment plant. Up to 330,000 tonnes of ore will be treated per annum, producing 50,000 ounces of gold.

Man injured In Nowra Stabbing

A man has been treated at Shoalhaven Hospital following a stabbing at a house in Nowra. Police were alerted about 3 on Saturday morning after the man went to the emergency unit seeking treatment for a stab wound to the back. After speaking with the man officers went to a house in near by Shoalhaven Street and set up a crime scene. Police say evidence was collected from the house and inquiries are continuing. Read more

Former Cop To Front Nowra Court On Indecency Charges

A former police officer has been ordered to appear in Nowra Local Court on indecency and assault charges. The 37 year old was arrested at Queanbeyan Police station after being interviewed by officers from Strike Force Burlington. He faces six charges each of commit an act of indecency and common assault. Police allege the offences occurred at a time when the officer was attached to the south region. He left the police force last year. Detectives have granted the former officer strict conditional bail to appear in Nowra LocalCourt on Monday June 17. Read more

Dogs Day Out In Nowra Sunday -Million Paws Walk

The annual RSPCA fund raiser the Million Paws Walk is being held in Nowra today (sun ) Venue is the added area of the Nowra Showground, with registrations and vet checks from 8.30 Sunday morning. All the money raised will be spent locally on RSPCA Rescue programs. Organiser, Jeanette Norton says there are several courses around the showground where dog lovers can walk their pets, plus plenty of competitions and prizes. Read more
