Sickening Vandal Rampage At East Nowra

Vandals have left a sickening trail of senseless ruin in a highly destructive rampage through an area of East Nowra, which has recently undergone an expensive beautification program.

As a part of project to improve the appearance and amenity of East Nowra, council has laid a new concrete path and cycleway between Salisbury Drive and the Greenwell Point Road.

A new colourbond fence has also been erected and the area re-vegetated.

In the latest of a series of attacks to beset the project, vandals have ripped most of the plants out of the ground, daubed graffiti on the fence and kicked in several panels.

Residents says the damage is sickening and a senseless waste of dwindling community funds.

Multi Million Dollar Sub Division Approved Near Cambewarra

Shoalhaven Council has approved plans for a multi million dollar sub division between North Nowra and Cambewarra. 59 lots, ranging in size from 4,000 to 4,300 square metres, will be created on a 48ha site located between Illaroo Road and the Shoalhaven River. The owners are planning a staged development, on an extension of Tallimba Road between Tapitallee and Bangalee. An application for the project was submitted 7 years ago, but was only approved yesterday. Threatened Species Could Kill $15M Motor Sport Track

Yerriyong and Parma residents believe there are more than a dozen threatened flora and fauna species at the site of a proposed $15 million motor race track near HMAS Albatross. To be designed for car and bike racing, the circuit is planned by Motor Cycling New South Wales for a site off the Braidwood Road. Jobless Figures Plunge To New Depths

A new breakdown of unemployment figures shows the jobless rate in Shoalhaven and Wingecarribee is now around double that of the next worst effected area in New South Wales. The numbers have been crunched by the Federal Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. Shoalhaven and Wingecarribee have jobless figures of almost 12%, with pockets of more than 13%, and a youth unemployment rate of 21%.
