Spate Of Crashes Including Two On Princes Highway

Monday, 02 July 2012 04:19

police logo Two people are recovering after their car ploughed into a pole at Sanctuary Point over the weekend.

The crash happened just after 7 on Saturday night  in Mustang Drive at Sanctuary Point.

Police say a 21 year old woman driving a Commodore sedan lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the road and into the pole.

The driver and passenger were both injured, and after being treated by paramedics, were taken  to Shoalhaven Hospital, where they were reported to be in a stable condition.

Endeavour Energy crews have to be called in to re-tension power lines, which had drooped to within about 2 metres of the roadway.

Meantime the Princes Highway has been re-opened after being closed to traffic yesterday afternoon, and again early this morning.

A car and a truck collided near Egans Farm at Yatte Yattah, north of Milton, effecting traffic flow in both directions.

In the second crash the highway was closed lagte last night  after a car and a ute collided at Rose Valley near Gerringong.

The driver of the ute is in a critical condition in St George Hopsital, where he is being treated for head injuries, while the driver of the car, a  Strathfield man,  has a suspected broken leg and was taken to Wollongong Hospital.

The highway has now been re-opened.
