New Moves Made For Jervis Bay Marina

The debate over the construction of a marina at Callala Bay is about to enter a new arena, with the group behind the project lodging an application to lease almost 50ha of the sea bed of Jervis Bay.

The group wants to build a 500 berth marina by 2020, but has run into opposition from a number locals who believe the area is unsuitable for such a large scale marina.

The Department of Planning is convening a focus meeting of agencies to discuss the processes involved in taking the project through the approval process.

Need for a marina was highlighted last month, when more than a dozen boats were washed ashore in a wild storm.

A number of locals say they have no objection to a marina in Jervis Bay, but believe to preserve the lifestyle of Callala, it should go up Currambene Creek between Huskisson and Myola

Multi Vehicle Pile Up Leads To Highway Chaos

There have been major delays to traffic on the Princes Highway south of Nowra following a multi vehicle pile up. The crash happened just before 8 this morning ( tue ) , north bound on the Princes Highway at Wandandian. Roads and Maritime Services staff were carrying out bridge works at Wandandian Creek. There was a bank up of traffic behind the works, when one vehicle slammed into the back of another, and then two others ploughed into the wreckage. Closed Door Discussions On Nowra Motor Race Complex

Motor Cycling New South Wales is set to begin tightly controlled closed door discussions with some residents who may be effected by the proposed $15 million multi purpose motor racing complex on the outskirts of Nowra. Designed for both cars and bikes the track would be developed at Yerriong near HMAS Albatross. Church Passes Plate Raises Amazing $164,000

A Shoalhaven Church has raised a staggering $164,000 after passing the plate for a Sunday collection. Every year the Nowra City Church in North Nowra runs an ' Imagine ' collection to raise funds for projects to help those less fortunate at both home and abroad. The collection has been run for the last 12 years, during which time a total of $2.2 million has been raised.
