Cop Car Rammed As South Coast Police Seize Gun

A man and woman have been charged - after a police car was rammed in Warrawong last night.

Police say they were called to a car park in Northcliff Drive after reports a man was carrying a gun.

As officers drove into the complex, a car allegedly rammed them, and then sped off

Police pursued the vehicle to Coomaditchy with the female passenger accused of picking up a gun off the dashboard.

A 21 year old woman and a 25 year old man were taken to Oak Flats Police Station

Former Cop To Front Nowra Court On Indecency Charges

A former police officer has been ordered to appear in Nowra Local Court on indecency and assault charges. The 37 year old was arrested at Queanbeyan Police station after being interviewed by officers from Strike Force Burlington. He faces six charges each of commit an act of indecency and common assault. Police allege the offences occurred at a time when the officer was attached to the south region. He left the police force last year. Detectives have granted the former officer strict conditional bail to appear in Nowra LocalCourt on Monday June 17. Read more

Dogs Day Out In Nowra Tomorrow – Million Paws Walk

The annual RSPCA fund raiser the Million Paws Walk is being held in Nowra tomorrow. Venue is the added area of the Nowra Showground, with registrations and vet checks from 8.30 tomorrow morning. All the money raised will be spent locally on RSPCA Rescue programs. Organiser, Jeanette Norton says there are several courses around the showground where dog lovers can walk their pets, plus plenty of competitions and prizes. Read more

In the lead up to winter, Fire and Rescue NSW is holding its annual fire station open days across the Southern Highlands today. Open days provide an opportunity for the community to see real life fire rescue demonstrations and to learn about the best ways to prevent and handle a fire in the home. From May to September last year there were more than 2000 house fires in NSW involving 313 injuries and 11 preventable deaths.
