Weather Warning – May Be A Big Dry On The Way

Saturday, 07 July 2012 01:54

After two years of the  'big wet' there is a warning today to get ready for the ' big dry'.

With many locals dams over flowing or very close to capacity,  EL NINO  is on its way back after extensive warming  of surface waters through the Pacific Ocean.

Traditionally a warming of the waters to the  north, produces drier weather over the Australian continent.

During the last dry it was only the pumping of huge amounts of water from the Shoalhaven and Wingecarribee River systems, that prevented Sydney from running out.

TOM SAUNDERS from the Weather Channel says we can look forward to drier conditions for the rest of winter and into spring.

Longer range forecasts suggest rainfall may return to normal levels over summer.
