City Botches Fourth Sports Ground Upgrade – Councillor

Monday, 09 July 2012 23:57

For the fourth time in less than a year Shoalhaven Council is under intense  criticism over its engineering and design standards for sporting fields, with claims the outlay of millions of dollars has failed to produce the desired results.

There has been a long list of problems at the South Nowra and St Georges Basin Fields, the West Ulladulla complex, and now the Huskisson soccer fields.

Council spent a quarter of a million dollars on the Huskisson grounds, but sections have turned into an unusable bog hole  because of a lack of drainage

Cr Greg Watson says council's record with road and sporting field construction is atrocious.

Tony Hobbs from the Huskisson Soccer club says plans are underway to rectify the situation, but the club will have to make a contribution from its limited resources.
