Council Making Fifth Attempt To Fix Deeply Rutted Road

Thursday, 12 July 2012 01:48

braidwood road repairs 5th attempt Shoalhaven Council is making its 5th attempt to repair a section of road west of Nowra  which continues to fail, despite repeated attempts to prevent it from breaking up.

The problems started late last year when council widened the shoulders of the Braidwood Road beside the western pad at HMAS Albatross.

There has been a series of failures of the widened section, and in the original parts of the road.

braidwood road repairs western pad Council staff are back on site this week, carrying out deep excavation of the problem spots, and replacing the poor sub grade, with material council engineers hope will last the distance.

The area in question was one of a number of locations inspected recently by consultants who are examining council's repair and construction techniques.

Former City Services Manager John Wells, who is standing for Team Gash at the election, says a lack of money is not the problem, he believes it is the way in which council delivers the service.
