Berry Leads The Way In Cheapest Fuel

A weekend study has found a huge variation in diesel prices in Nowra Bomaderry compared with Berry, and Goulburn.

The study has found a 10 cent a litre difference in the price of diesel between Berry and North Nowra.

The price at Berry is comparable with both Goulburn and parts of Southern Sydney.

The study has also found petrol to be cheaper in Berry, by one to two cents a litre.

Meantime the latest NRMA bowser buster survey has found it is cheaper to buy petrol at Yass and Albury, than Nowra, which is much closer a fuel distribution terminal.

The NRMA says checks at Nowra found petrol at 140, while at Yass and Albury it was between two and six cents a litre cheaper.

In Moss Vale prices for un-leaded were 135, which was 5 cents cheaper than Nowra.

Results of the survey come after NRMA South East Director Alan Evans called recently for the Federal Government to step in and regulate fuel prices.

Mr Evans says there is no logical reason why drivers in the Shoalhaven should be paying more than motorists who live further away from fuel terminals.

Driver Killed In Milk Tanker Crash

The driver of a milk tanker has been killed in a crash in Sydney overnight. Operated by Mc Colls Transport the tanker careered over a median strip, across two lanes of traffic, without hitting opposing vehicles, and then into the front of a two storey block of shops. Anger Builds Over Costly Delays To Merrigang Street Upgrade

Wingecarribee Council has admitted reports the cost of saving four trees in Merrigang Street in Bowral will be almost half a million dollars, are only early estimates. Council this week rejected moves to remove the trees and re-start work on the multi million dollar re-construction of the badly pot holed street. Highlands Police Youth Club Step Closer

A PCYC in the Wingecarribee could become a reality in the next 12 months if the project is accepted by the State Government and the heads of PCYC. The local PCYC Association approached council to fast track the project, and the shire has now agreed to do what it can.
