New Nowra Navy Aircrewmen Awarded Wings

aircrew graduation with fleet commander tim barrartt The latest graduates  from the navy's aircrew training program have been told they are embarking on a career in aviation at the same time as the R.A.N Nowra based helicopter fleet begins a period of total re-newal

Mitchell Barrie from Newcastle, Liam Carruthers from Adelaide, Anthony De Silva from Kalgoorlie, and Benjamin Webb from Ballina have undergone nine months of aircrewman training.

They now move on to consolidation training in the recently introduced Bell 429 helicopters, before advancing to the new M.R.H. 90 and soon to be built Sea Hawk Romeo aircraft.

They have received their wings from former Nowra aviator, now Naval Fleet Commander Rear Admiral Tim Barratt.

Driver Killed In Milk Tanker Crash

The driver of a milk tanker has been killed in a crash in Sydney overnight. Operated by Mc Colls Transport the tanker careered over a median strip, across two lanes of traffic, without hitting opposing vehicles, and then into the front of a two storey block of shops. Anger Builds Over Costly Delays To Merrigang Street Upgrade

Wingecarribee Council has admitted reports the cost of saving four trees in Merrigang Street in Bowral will be almost half a million dollars,  are only early estimates. Council this week rejected moves to remove the trees and re-start work on the multi million dollar re-construction of  the badly pot holed street. Instead the trees, which arborists say will not last more than 10 years, will stay for the time being, and work on the project has been deferred until October, after the completion of Tulip Time. A PCYC in the Wingecarribee could become a reality in the next 12 months if the project is accepted by the State Government and the heads of PCYC. The local PCYC Association approached council to fast track the project, and the shire has now agreed to do what it can.
