Former Local Student Wins Bronze At Games

kaarle mc culloch Former Bowral  student Kaarle Mc Culloch has taken a bronze medal in the Olympics this morning.

The  24 year old  rode with Anna Mears to take third in the time trial.

Germany  took the gold and China the silver.

Mc Culloch first sprang to national prominence in 2006 when she won the Junior Australian 500 metre time trial

The federal coalition has guaranteed there will be no cuts to the defence budget if it wins the federal election in September and they will deliver the new Romeo  helicopters at HMAS Albatross in Nowra. Police Launch Illawarra Rail Safety Campaign

The few minutes it takes to stop at a level crossing and wait for a train to pass by, could be the few minutes that change your life, police have warned as a rail safety campaign begins in the Illawarra. During the next five weeks, police will be targeting level crossings at Bellambi Lane at Bellambi and Darkes Road at Dapto. From 2001 to 2012 there have been 112 collisions involving trains and vehicles at level crossings throughout the State. The crackdown is a joint initiative by the NSW Police Force, Transport for NSW, and Roads and Maritime Services.... Read more

Local Student Wins NASA Scholarship

A Year 12 student from Nowra Christian School has been accepted for work experience with NASA at the International Space Camp in Alabama. Seventeen year old Aimee Parsons from Culburra applied for the exclusive scholarship in January and much to her surprise was selected as one of two Australian representatives. Thirty two students from across the world will begin the camp from the 19th July, which runs for a week and covers many elements of Astronaut training. With aspirations to become a pilot or aeronautical engineer Aimee has also been accepted into the Defence Force Academy  next year. Aimee says she cant wait... Read more
