rough seas breaking There is a warning to be careful about dangerous sea and surf conditions along the south coast over the next few days.

Between today and Sunday winds could get up to 45 knots and swells as high as 5 metres.

 

 

big seas gerroa headland The weather bureau says there will be significant risk to surfers and fishermen, particularly around rock shelves and the entrances to rivers and lakes.

There is also a risk of erosion in some exposed coastal areas.

The swells are expected to ease by Monday

Council Orders Urgent TLC For Iconic Momument

Quick action by a Wingecarribee Clr will see the Monument to Human Endeavour near the loopline north of Hilltop given a much needed spruce-up. During an interview with 2STs Graeme Day last week, Clr Duncan Gair promised to speak with staff about the state of the massive 37 tonne concrete sculpture on Wilson Drive near the Big Hill cutting. Locals Invited To High Speed Rail Seminar

The benefits and pitfalls of having a high speed rail network pass through the southern highlands will be discussed at a seminar in Moss Vale next week. The free seminar is being hosted by Wingecarribee Council and follows the release of the Federal Government's High Speed Rail study which details the possible route for the rail line between Brisbane and Melbourne. There are only a limited number of stations along the route and one of those is at Aylmerton, near Mittagong. While Wingecarribee Council has voted to have the Bowral Country Golf Club lease referred to an independent arbiter, attempts are still being made to obtain documents relating to the history of the controversial matter.
