Need For Pathway So Urgent Residents Will Do It Themselves

Thursday, 16 August 2012 02:02

cycleway A new survey has found there is a huge amount of support for the construction of a footpath on Matron Porter Drive at Milton, to the point where  residents are prepared to do some of the work themselves.

A local action group formed to lobby for the project wants the pathway to run over a distance of 3KM from the Princes Highway  at Milton, through to Mollymook.

More than 400 people responded to the survey, and 98% say they would like to see the pathway a reality within two years.

In excess of three quarters of the residents questioned say the current pedestrian access along Matron Porter Drive is extremely un-satisfactory, and almost a third say they would use the pathway at least twice a week.

Matt Potter from the action group says the risk of pedestrians being run over is extremely high.
