New Push To Demolish Mittagong Bowling Club

Tuesday, 19 June 2012 00:15

mittagong bowling club house Wingecarribee Council has agreed to attach a caveat to the land title for Alexandra Square at Mittagong to recognise that a Declaration of Trust exists over it.

Local historian, Dr Leah Day says council is the trustee of the land for the people of Mittagong and has a moral responsibility to register the caveat against the land title, to protect the interests of the community and avoid any confusion.

She has  suggested that many of the problems that have occurred since 1912 could have been avoided if the trust was attached to the document.

Dr Day believes the former Mittagong Bowling Club was built on the site in breach of the trust and is advocating for the demolition of the building so the reserve can be returned to the community.
