Free From Council – Better Jump Quick For This One

Wingecarribee Shire Council has announced a free disposal service for unwanted analogue televisions

Free dumping for locals will be available between Monday 23rd July and Sunday 19th August

The program is expected to cost the shire about $50,000 and comes after the shutdown of the analogue TV network last month. .

One television per household can be dropped for free at the resource recovery centre in Moss Vale, until the maximum capacity of 1200 is reached

After the limit is reached or after 19th August the price to dispose of televisions is $41.50

Site supervisor at the resource recovery centre Andrew Leslie says residents need to contact council for a disposal ticket and will be told when they can drop the television off

Wingecarribee Water Prices Rise, Residents Not Happy

Residents across the Wingecarribee who have been experiencing considerably increased water charges have raised there concerns with Council. Council has put the increases down to warmer weather conditions, new water metres being installed across the shire and the rare possibility of water leaks. Heat wave conditions were experienced in the Highlands throughout January, when compared to the previous three years the past summer was hotter and dryer, leading to a spike in water consumption across the shire. Hume Highway Berrima Will Undergo Road Works From Monday

Motorists using the Hume Highway at Berrima are advised there will be road work affecting South Bound traffic from next Monday 27th May. Twelve concrete slabs were damaged by a truck fire early in May, Roads and Maritime services will be resurfacing the area to prevent any further damage. Diversions will be in place for the southbound lanes of the Hume highway between Medway and Mereworh Roads, traffic will be diverted onto Medway Rd, the Old Hume Highway and Mereworth Road during work hours. Clyde Mountain Set For Stabilisation Work

Roads and Maritime Services has finalised plans to close the Kings Highway for five weeks from next Tuesday until late June. The highway is being closed on Clyde Mountain to allow stabilisation works to be undertaken following a massive landslide last year near early last year near Pooh Corner. The main link between Batemans Bay and Braidwood will be closed from 8am to 5pm Tuesdays to Thursdays for a five week period.
