64,000 Empty Stubbies Picked Up Beside Rail Line
A Southern Highlands Community Group has put in a monumental effort to remove 9 tonne of rubbish from a neglected rail line running through the region's northern villages. Known as the old loopline the train track runs between Mittagong and Picton via Thirlmere. Sections of the line between Braemar and Buxton have not been used since 1975. Wingecarribee Council has been supportive of the project, so far waiving close to $2000 worth of tipping fees. Joanne Babb from the... Read more
Schultz Lashes Out At National Press Over Travel Claims
Federal Member for Hume ALBY SCHULTZ has rubbished claims he's planning a taxpayer funded overseas study tour before he retires in September. He says any suggestions which have appeared in the national press are in his opinion just sour grapes. Mr Schultz says he believes some journalists writing stories about him want to be MP’s themselves, and are frustrated because they... Read more

Overnight council rejected moves to re-start work immediately, and cut down the trees in question. Cr Scandrett says the amount of money council is wasting equates to half the cost of a new all weather... Read more
