Vocal Minority Trying To Sink Moss Vale Pool - Councillor

Wednesday, 01 August 2012 02:12

moss vale pool development proposal One of the five Wingecarribee councillors who supports the redevelopment of the Moss Vale Indoor Aquatic Centre has accused a small minority of local residents of trying to sink the project in the lead up to the Council elections on September 8.

Clr Larry Whipper has responded to accusations that the community has not been properly consulted on the funding arrangements for the pool project.

He has told 2STs Graeme Day that the Moss Vale pool proposal has been on the table for a number of years and the community has had plenty of opportunity to comment.

But Charlie Johns from the Southern Highlands Ratepayers Association says council has kept the community in the dark about many aspects of the proposal.

Meantime, a straw poll on Grace Farah's 2ST morning program has revealed many people are concerned that council cannot afford to build the aquatic centre at Moss Vale.

Around 65% of people who phoned in said NO to the aquatic centre proposal in its current form
