Police Seek Witnesses To Macquarie Pass Crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious crash between the southern highlands and south coast earlier this month.

About 12.30pm on Sunday 5 August 2012, two motorcycles – a KTM 650 and a Harley Davidson –collided head on while travelling on the Macquarie Pass.

Both male riders were taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment.

The 39-year-old Harley Davidson rider remains in hospital with serious leg injuries, while the 42-year-old KTM rider has since been released.

Police attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are investigating the crash.

They’re appealing for any witnesses, who haven’t already spoken to police, to come forward.

Anyone with information should contact Lake Illawarra Police or Crime Stoppers.

Blackspot Funds To Fix Highway Danger Spots

Two dangerous sections of the Illawarra Highway near Robertson are to be upgraded, following a $200,000 funding allocation from the Federal Government's blackspot program. Throsby MP Stephen Jones says half of the money will go towards the installation of a w-beam guardrail on a 1.5 kilometre section of the Illawarra Highway, south of Tourist Road. The remaining $100,000 will be spent laying a high level non-skid road surface on two bends of the Illawarra Highway near Wilsons Road at Burrawang.
