Nowra To Get New Water Park

nowra pool river side Work on the $ 4.6 million  first stage of re-developing Nowra Pool into a water park is expected to start at the end of next summer.

Shoalhaven Council has approved funding for the project, using money set aside for the North Nowra Link Road and contributions provided by developers.

At one stage council came close to closing the pool and developing a new indoor swimming centre at Bomaderry, but had a change of heart after a major campaign spearheaded by local Fiona Phillips.

Cr Greg Watson says while ultimately it is hoped to be able to place a light weight cover over the complex, the first stage will involve a major re-vamp of the facility

Its planned to build a 10 lane 55 metre pool, with a removable mid section boom, meaning the area can be divided into two 2 metre swimming sections
