South Coast Cancer Centre Gets Started

As an Ambassador for Southern Kids Care, I swell with pride to see major projects get up and running like the South Coast Cancer Care Centre that will cater for so many people and families across not only the Shoalhaven but out of the region too. So this news today about major work getting underway is just tremendous!

Contractors have reached a key milestone in the construction of the $35 million South Coast Cancer Care Centre, pouring the slab for the first floor and beginning erection of structural steel to support the roof.

Due to be operational by late next year the centre is being developed in Scenic Drive between Shoalhaven Hospital and the Nowra Showground.

Sydney based contractors Lipman Constructions are building a multi purpose centre, which will cater for radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and also provide accommodation for out of area patients.

Shoalhaven Hospital Senior Surgeon ,Professor Martin Jones, says commissioning of the centre will mean patients will no longer have to travel to Wollongong, Sydney or Canberra for treatment.
