Wanna play cricket with Usain BOLT

BOLT Usain Bolt, triple gold medallist at the London 2012 Olympic Games, has declared he wants to play cricket in Australia this summer.

Speaking with Karl Stefanovic on London Live, Bolt revealed his next career move might be suiting up with Shane Warne for the Melbourne Stars in the Twenty20 Big Bash.

“He (Shane Warne) contacted me and asked me about if I am serious and if I really want to do it then he can put in a few words that should get it done,” Bolt told Stefanovic.

“So we will see if I get the time off. I will try.”

Bolt, who was a fast bowler as a youngster before concentrating on athletics, has made no secret about his passion for cricket and has regularly made references to Australia’s cricketing elite in his post-race interviews.

“Twenty20, I love it! Just the fact that it is so exciting, it’s about going hard the whole time, not just about playing shots,” said Bolt. “It’s about being aggressive and I like that style of batsman.”

The six-time Olympic gold medallist revealed he might need some work if he does change sporting pursuits.

Bolt said: “If I get the chance I will definitely try because I know it’s going to be a lot of fun. I don’t know how good I am. I will probably have to get a lot of practice in.”

In the exclusive interview, Bolt also blasted nine-time Olympic gold medallist Carl Lewis for the American’s negative comments about Jamaica’s doping control program.

“WADA is doing an extremely good job in making sure that everybody is consistently tested, so for somebody to just get up and say something like that, especially an athlete that used to do the sport, is really to me disrespectful,” said Bolt. “I have no respect for them.”

Bolt says he has been hurt by Lewis’ comments but he wouldn’t waste his time confronting the legendary US sprinter.

“I wouldn’t say anything if I see him,” said Bolt. “I would just walk straight past him because to me to acknowledge him face-to-face is just not worth it.”
