The demise of the Australian Car Industry.

Well things aren’t looking good for the Australian Car Industry.

The latest mass sacking of Ford workers in Victoria has embarrassed the Gillard government and revived questions about the use of more than $1 billion a year of taxpayers' money to prop up the ailing car industry.

Ford Australia's announcement yesterday that it would shed 440 jobs at its Geelong and Broadmeadows plants came just six months after Julia Gillard unveiled a $34 million bailout of the company and declared it would lead to more jobs.

So what went wrong ?

I remember as  a school kid in the 60’s going on an excursion to the Holden plant at Pagewood. Ford had a plant at Homebush.

British Leyland had a plant at Zetland.

3 car manufactures in one City !!!!!

Bottom line , cars are cheaper from overseas, maybe Holden, Ford  should come up with a more viable, cheaper car for us poorly paid Aussies.

Poor old Marissa, Miss Utah didn’t fair all that well when asked a particular question about women equality at a recent beauty contest. Look it can be a pretty nerve racking experience, to be up there on stage in front of millions of people. All eyes upon you.The question was about the income disparity between men and women. How would you go ? {youtube}/jHEFIhdkgFA{/youtube} Read more
