Endeavour Energy emergency crews are on the ground assessing and repairing widespread damage caused by last night’s torrential rain and damaging winds.
The storm has disrupted power across a broad area with widespread damage to parts of the Shoalhaven, Illawarra, Southern Highlands and Blue Mountains regions, as well as in Western Sydney.
Overnight, damaging winds interrupted power supply to more than 17,000 homes and businesses, causing 300 hazards requiring repairs.
The worst-affected areas include areas around Kiama and Jervis Bay, with damage extending along the coast and into the Southern Highlands.
The storm cell remains active, particularly along coastal areas, which may lead to further network damage and outages.
Affected customers are encouraged to make preparations that best suit their needs.
