Shoalhaven has another interim CEO

There’s another fill-in CEO to guide Shoalhaven Council over the foreseeable future.

Council has resolved to appoint accomplished local government executive and General Manager, Brian Barrett to be Acting CEO from Thursday 31 July.

Mr Barrett will temporarily fill the role for the duration between Mr Ruprai leaving and the appointment of a new CEO. Recruitment for the permanent CEO position is continuing, with a report about its progress to be provided in the near future.

“Mr Barrett has served as a respected leader in local government, bringing decades of experience and stability to councils across New South Wales and will provide a steady hand during this transition phase to the staff and the Council,” she said.

His 30-year career in local government spans pivotal roles including Director of Corporate Services, General Manager of Marrickville Council, and Acting General Manager of Inner West Council.

Since his retirement, Mr Barrett has extensive experience as a locum CEO, holding Interim CEO or Acting General Manager appointments in Inner West Council, King Island Council, Murray River Council and Strathfield Council.
