If you thought you’d seen every side of Priyanka Chopra Jonas, think again. The global icon is ditching the glamour for grit in the upcoming Prime Video epic, The Bluff. Trading high heels for high-seas heroism, she steps into the boots of Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden, a woman who proves that while you can leave the pirate life behind, the pirate life isn’t always finished with you.

A Tropical Paradise Turned Tactical Battlefield

Set in the breathtaking, 19th-century Cayman Islands, the story introduces us to Ercell living a tranquil, sun-soaked life with her husband T.H. (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and their family. It’s all very idyllic until the horizon darkens with the arrival of her former captain, Connor, played by a menacingly brilliant Karl Urban.

Connor isn’t there for a friendly reunion; he’s out for blood and revenge. What follows is a relentless, R-rated thrill ride that blends historical depth with the kind of modern cinematic flair we’ve come to expect from producers Anthony and Joe Russo. Yes, the masterminds behind Avengers: Endgame and Extraction are at the helm here, which means the stakes are high and the action is bone-crunching.

Motherhood With an Edge

The Bluff isn’t just another Pirate movie about buried treasure; it’s about the lengths a mother will go to protect her own. Chopra Jonas delivers a physically demanding performance that is reportedly her most “fierce” yet. Ercell utilises tactical traps, lethal swordsmanship, and brutal hand-to-hand combat to defend her home.

Director Frank E. Flowers, a Cayman Islands native, has clearly poured his heritage into the project. By using real-world locations like the haunting Skull Cave and the towering bluffs of Cayman Brac, the film feels grounded in a way most green-screen adventures simply can’t match. It’s a “Caribbean perspective” that avoids the romanticised fluff often seen in the genre, opting instead for a gritty, visceral look at survival.

While the brawls are bloody and the sword fights are frequent, the emotional foundation of the film is what will keep you glued to the screen. Supporting heavyweights like Temuera Morrison and Safia Oakley-Green round out a cast that promises to make this more than just your standard period thriller.

The Bluff premieres globally on Prime Video on 25 February 2026.
