Suspected drug house hit by fire

A suspicious fire has damaged a suspected drug growing house just days after a Police raid seized more than 300 cannabis plants.

NSW Fire and Rescue was alerted just after 4am on Thursday June 4 to a house in Filter Road at West Nowra.

In May 2026, officers attached to South Coast Police District commenced investigation into the cultivation of prohibited plants in the region.

Following inquiries, about 11am on Tuesday 2 June 2026, police executed a search warrant at a home in Filter Road, West Nowra.

Police located a sophisticated indoor hydroponic set up, with six rooms containing 329 cannabis plants up to 1m, cannabis leaf and items used in the cultivation of prohibited drugs.

Officers declared a crime scene and the plants have been destroyed.

The house has been declared a crime scene and will be examined by specialist forensic investigators.
