NSW Police have charged 732 people with 1,589 offences in just three days as part of the latest crackdown on domestic violence, backed by the Minns Labor Government.
Operation Amarok XIV ran from Friday 14 to Sunday 16 August, targeting repeat, wanted and high-risk domestic and family violence offenders across NSW.
Police executed 228 arrest warrants and conducted 12,054 apprehended domestic violence order compliance checks, identifying 321 alleged breaches.
Officers also conducted 1,497 bail compliance checks, identifying a further 225 alleged breaches.
Police carried out 93 Firearms Prohibition Order searches and seized 118 firearms and 16 other weapons.
About 9.15am on Friday 7 August 2026, officers attached to Southern Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team executed a firearm and weapon prohibition compliance check at a home in Sanctuary Point.
During a search, police allegedly located and seized two firearms, a gel blaster, ammunition, and small amounts of cannabis and methylamphetamine.
A 51-year-old man was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm, possess unregistered firearm-pistol, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm, and two counts of possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Local Court 3 on Saturday 8 August 2026 where he was further refused bail with his next reappearance on Friday 21 August 2026.
