Around Australia 60,000 children with serious medical conditions remain at home or in hospital, watching from the sidelines and missing school. Some of these kids will experience frequent or extended absences from school - from a few weeks, or months, to possibly years at a time.
A new report has been launched at Parliament House in Canberra that aims to keep Australia’s serious sick kids connected to their schools. Amazingly, there has not been any official framework in place for them before. Megan Gilmour, one of the Founders of Missing School talks about her organization and some of the key recommendations of the report.
