Pedestrian airlifted after crash causes evacuations

About 11.30am on Wednesday 9 August 2023, emergency services were called to a carpark on the Princes Highway and Burrill Street South, Ulladulla, following reports of a single vehicle crash.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District arrived to find a Toyota Kluger had collided with a pedestrian before crashing into a fence and dislodging a gas cylinder in an adjacent carpark.

Fire and rescue NSW and police established an exclusion zone and evacuated a number of businesses, before the area was deemed safe.

The driver of the Toyota and a female passenger – both aged in their 80’s – were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Milton Hospital in a stable condition.

The pedestrian – a man aged in his 30’s was taken to Milton Hospital before being airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

An investigation into the circumstance surrounding the crash is continuing.
