Telstra has issued a statement after receiving a number of complaints from their customers.

Regional General Manager Chris Taylor said they’re carrying out works on a mobile site in Bowral up until Sunday that will result in increased capacity for 4G and prepare the site for 5G in the future.

He said residents in parts of Bowral may notice some outages during this time.

Telstra is conducting works on a mobile site in Bowral that will result in increased capacity for 4G and prepare the site for 5G in the future.

Telstra customers who get coverage from this tower may have received a text advising of the work.

We appreciate there is never a good time to do this work but once completed, it will mean better connectivity and an improved experience for local residents.

The work is scheduled to take place until Sunday 12 March and residents in parts of Bowral may notice some outages during this time. Landline and NBN services will not be impacted.

Telstra has four other mobile base stations serving the Bowral area providing a range of 3G, 4G and 5G connectivity.

We apologise for the disruption and thank everyone for their patience while these works are underway.

In the meantime residents can improve their mobile coverage by using their nbn connection to access Wi-Fi calling. This is a free setting on most popular mobile phones using the Wi-Fi network to make and receive mobile calls.

We also encourage business owners talk to their bank about connecting their EFTPOS terminals to their nbn or Wi-Fi connection to prevent delays in processing transactions.
