A broad-ranging exhibition showcasing the breadth of the creative endeavor’s of Nafisa, one of Australia’s most decorated artists.
Nafisa’s ink and pastel works on handmade papers and oil paintings depict Tuscan scenes and colours: Italian architecture, terracotta’s against green hills, reflections in the canals on Venice, and the heritage features of small, walled towns.
The exhibition also features a range of delicately hand painted porcelain sculptures of animals, being flown in from her studio in Florence, exclusively for this exhibition, and a brand-new series of oil on board paintings that marry native birds and wildflowers with a touch of nostalgia in the form of antique teacups.
Formerly of Sydney and now based in the Highlands, Nafisa has over 200 prizes and commendations to her name, including the Archibald Packers Prize and the Florence Biennale Gold Medal. She has also been a finalist in every major art prize including the Dobell Prize for Drawing, the Blake Prize and the Portia Geach Portrait Award among others.
Visit historic Retford Park this spring to view this exceptional exhibition of Nafisa’s stunning new work from her Florence and Bowral studios.
