Refugee Week Morning Tea
As part of Refugee Week 2025, MCCI is inviting the community to come together in a spirit of welcome, connection and celebration at a free morning tea on Wednesday 19 June, hosted at Hyper Hyper, 85 North Street Nowra, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
This year’s Refugee Week theme, “Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community”, is a call to recognise the strength and richness that people of refugee backgrounds bring to the places they now call home.
The event is being organised by MCCI, a leading organisation supporting multicultural communities across the Illawarra (Dharawal Country), Shoalhaven (Yuin Country) and ACT (Ngunnawal Country).
Alongside warm refreshments and engaging activities, the morning will feature:
-
A Welcome to Country and guest speaker
-
An interactive “Country of Origin” activity
-
A community chalkboard art display
-
Space to connect, reflect and celebrate cultural diversity
Local MP Ms Liza Anne Butler and MCCI CEO Chris Lacey will join the celebration, underscoring the importance of creating inclusive communities where everyone can thrive.
