BDCU Anthem essential worker housing

BDCU The Collective Impact announced in April the purchase of 8 units specifically for essential workers in the NSW Southern Highlands at below-market rental, ensuring they can live and work locally.

Anthem has partnered with BDCU to support this model by securing a long-term lease
of two units, which will be made available to its aged care staff at the same affordable rate.

This isn’t Anthem’s first step in supporting essential worker accommodation. Back in 2018, Anthem developed The Forge in Mittagong, where 50% of the 48 units were made available to essential workers at reduced rent.

“At Anthem, we’ve long recognised the challenges essential workers face in finding housing within the communities they serve so well,” said Kathryn Blissett, Director of Anthem.

“When BDCU approached us to secure two units for this purpose, we didn’t hesitate to get on board.”

“It’s a great example of two community-focused organisations turning words into action to address a real issue in the Highlands,” she added.

Matt Sewell, Head of Communications at BDCU, said: “Anthem has supported BDCU as a long-term member, and we were thrilled when they agreed to lease two of the units. It’s a tangible solution to a significant regional challenge.”

“We sincerely thank the entire team at Anthem and our Community Bank BDCU customers. Your ongoing support makes projects like this possible,” Sewell added.
