The Federal health minister has announced strict new controls for the sale and import of vapes.
The e-cigarettes will only be available from registered medical businesses to try and curb excessive use, especially for young people.
Local GP Dr Roche says he thinks it’s a step in the right direction.
“I’ve been getting increasingly concerned about the fact that vapes are being brought into the country in an uncontrolled fashion. We don’t know what’s in them, and the people who are using them often don’t know what’s in them.”
The new measures will be part of the federal government’s 2023-24 budget.
