Pedestrian critical after Southern Highlands crash

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was remains in a critical condition following a crash in the Southern Highlands.

About 10am on Monday December 11 emergency services responded to the Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

Bystanders performed CPR on the 64-year-old man where he regained consciousness before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

He was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition; however, his condition has since deteriorated, and he is now listed as critical.

The driver of the Toyota Yaris, a 65-year-old man, was uninjured.

Officers from The Hume Police District have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or has any available dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact Mittagong Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
