The Australian Electoral Commission has now formally declared the seat of Hume.
Returned MP Angus Taylor said, “It’s an honour and privilege to be given the opportunity to serve as your local member for another three years.
“I do not take this responsibility lightly and will continue to fight for our region.
“We have much to be proud of in Hume. We are a warm, friendly and hard-working community that believes in aspiration and the great Australian dream, Mr Taylor said.
“I firmly believe the Coalition is best placed to support this aspiration.
“Despite a swing towards the Liberal party in Hume, unfortunately this was not the result we hoped for across the country.
“It shows we need to do more to convince Australians that we are the best party to support aspiration, economic opportunity, and the Australian dream.
“We must do better, and we must unify,” Mr Taylor concluded.
