Hindmarsh Park will transform into a lively festival precinct filled with cultural performances, music, dance, art, workshops, interactive experiences and delicious food from around the world, showcasing the heritage of local operators.
The festival will celebrate the cultural diversity of the Kiama region while encouraging visitors to explore, enjoy and support local businesses.
Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald invites residents and visitors to gather your family and friends and experience a day of entertainment, discovery and connection.
“There will be something for everyone and we can’t wait to welcome you to the inaugural Kiama Culture Fest,” he said. “We are proud of the many cultures that make up our Kiama community so it will be tremendous to see that being showcased at this event.”
NSW Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper said: “It’s never been more important for communities to get together in-person to celebrate our cultural diversity.
“We are proud to support Kiama Municipal Council to put on the inaugural Kiama Culture Fest, giving the whole community the chance to taste, experience, and learn about the many cultures of the region.”
Councillor Matt Brown, chair of Council’s Tourism and Economic Advisory Committee, said: “This event will be a welcome addition to our events calendar, particularly for local businesses who will benefit from the boost in visitation.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to welcome more visitors to Kiama and we hope this is the start of another annual keystone celebration for our town.”
Festival Highlights include:
- Henna, face painting and African drumming
- Aboriginal, Irish, Peruvian, Bollywood, Brazilian and Lion Dance performances
- Cultural art and craft workshops, including weaving and crochet
- Colour Run and foam tunnel
- Kids activities and play zones
- Outdoor library, storytelling and poetry
- Uniting sensory tent
- Inflatable Day Club with Global DJ
- Cultural demonstrations and experiences
- A FREE shuttle between Kiama Leisure Centre and the event zone
- After-hours programming at local venues

The amount awarded to Kiama Council for the event is $82,500 from Multicultural NSW.
