The exterior wall of Kiama’s Old Fire Station has yet again been transformed by a series of vibrant new artworks created by Visual Arts Certificate III students from TAFE
Inspired by the unique birdlife and habitats of the Illawarra, the artworks feature much-loved local species including the pelican, kookaburra, magpie and lyrebird.
The talented students involved in the project were Corinne Tillett, Robyn Reeve, Natasha Alphenaar, Dakota Storm, Sophie Ludwig, Mark Tsarev, Rory Cusack and Robert Bennett.
As part of Kiama Council’s commitment to a vibrant cultural landscape and bringing art into the public realm, the Old Fire Station continues to evolve into a colourful outdoor exhibit, offering fresh perspectives beyond traditional gallery walls.
Mayor Cameron McDonald said the artwork nicely complemented the Kiama Sculpture Walk which is currently on display nearby at Hindmarsh Park and the harbour foreshore.
