A new survey suggests many residents across the Shoalhaven and Southen Highlands are unprepared for the threat of natural disasters this summer, while several myths remain about insurance.
Nearly two-thirds of Australians (66%) admit they still don’t know when storm season occurs, and 29% leave insurance to the last minute, meaning they could miss out.

One in three respondents also believe insurance covers the cost of damage to a home that hasn’t been maintained, along with several other myths about the claim-handling process.
The Head of Natural Hazard Claims and Assessing at AAMI, Steven Hussey, says those misconceptions could be leaving people exposed.
