The member for Gilmore has again promised Nowra’s ‘Chopper on a Stick’ will be back in 2026.
An Iroquois 894 helicopter was removed in September 2023 due to safety concerns.
Fiona Phillips says she’s been working closely with the office of the Minister for Defence, planning for a new life-size model at the gateway to Nowra.

She said, “The Chopper on a Stick community program will be launched soon – giving residents and community organisations an opportunity to choose between two replica choppers: a Seahawk, the current helicopter predominantly flying from HMAS Albatross, or an Iroquois 894.”
Ms Phillips assured once the community votes are in, the Navy icon will be returned.
