Wingecarribee Shire Council will begin road improvement works on Old Hume Highway,
Alpine, from 13 October 2025 as part of its 2025/26 Annual Capital Works Program.
The project will be carried out between Corrie Road and Old South Road and is expected
to finish by December 2025, weather permitting.
The works aim to enhance road safety for all road users. Works include:
- Shoulder widening (0.5 metres) on both sides of the highway
- Installation of roadside safety barriers with motorcycle underrun
- Installation of curve alignment markers (CAM) on outside bend
- Linemarking
- Road reconstruction where required.
Construction will take place between 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and, if required,
some Saturday’s from 8am to 1pm.
Traffic control measures will be in place during construction to support safety and guide
road users.
Access for residents, buses, and emergency services will be maintained at all
times under the guidance of traffic controllers
