Shoalhaven Mayor Patricia White has launched her Giving Box appeal today, encouraging residents to dig deep and donate to families experiencing hardship this Christmas.
The annual Mayor’s Giving Box has been donating presents and funds to local charities and preschools for more than 20 years to ensure no one misses out at this special time.
“Christmas is a time for giving, and this year, many in our community need a helping hand. If you can, please donate—your kindness will bring hope and joy to those who need it most,” said Mayor Patricia White.
“I’m so proud of the way our community comes together. Let’s make this Christmas special for every child,” Cr White said.
This year the beneficiaries include Cullunghutti Aboriginal Child and Family Centre, Lyrebird Preschool, Wayeela Preschool, Nowra East Public School and Salt Ministries.
Representatives of each attended the launch of the Mayor’s Giving Box at Nowra Centre Plaza shopping centre on Saturday.
More than 1000 gifts were distributed to families last year thanks to the generosity of Shoalhaven residents and businesses.
Manildra Group has donated $10,000 to the appeal for 2025 and 2026, which will help bring joy to families doing it tough this Christmas and next.
There are two easy ways to donate:
- Drop an unwrapped present at the Giving Box at one of the below locations:
- Nowra Centre Plaza
- Sussex Inlet Neighbourhood Centre
- Nowra Administration Building
2. Make an online donation on the fundraising platform Give Now.
The Mayor’s Giving Box will be accepting donations until Wednesday 24 December.
