South Coast police ‘condolences’ after Bondi shootings

The South Coast Police District has extended its condolences to those affected by last night’s tragic events at Bondi Beach.

A statement issued this morning says the senseless act of violence has caused unimaginable pain and loss.

It goes on to say police’s thoughts are with the families who’ve lost loved ones, those who are recovering from injuries, and everyone impacted by the devastating incident.

Local police also encouraging anyone who might be struggling to contact Beyond Blue 24/7 on 1300 22 46 36.

A joint counter-terrorism investigation is now underway after last night’s shooting, which hasleft 16 people dead and 40 others injured.

Police say two gunmen opened fire on crowds yesterday evening during a Jewish celebration, before officers returned fire.

Several children are among the victims, and five people remain in a critical condition.
