From 1 February 2026, Superintendent Craig Ireland will be appointed as the new Commander for the South Coast Police District.

Superintendent Ireland joined the NSW Police Force in 1988, and has more than 37 years in policing experience, including time spent in a number of metropolitan and regional commands across the state, including two years as the Murrumbidgee Police District Commander and since August 2021, as the Lake Illawarra Police District Commander.

Superintendent Darren Brand will move to the position of Lake Illawarra Police District Commander.

Superintendent Brand joined the NSW Police Force in 1997 with more than 28 years in policing, including time spent in metropolitan, regional and specialist commands across the state, Superintendent Brand was previously the Barrier Police District Commander before moving to South Coast Police District in October 2022.
