Wednesday March 13, 2024 – Power FM and 2ST have successfully wrapped up their latest major promotion, ‘Cruise Control’, which saw one lucky listener walk away with a $5,000 cruise voucher.

The promotion, which ran across both stations, saw hundreds of listeners eagerly registering online for a chance to win. Each day, a name was randomly selected and announced on air in a ‘boarding call’ format. From there, the lucky listener had just 10 minutes to call back to secure their ‘boarding pass’, granting them access to the Cruise Control Party, as a VIP, putting them in the running for the grand prize.

Across February, 20 lucky finalists received their boarding passes live on air before the Cruise Control Party set sail at the Kangaroo Valley Friendly Inn on March 9. The venue was transformed into a nautical paradise, complete with yacht rock music by the band ‘Cruise’, inflatable decorations, a red carpet, and deck chairs.

VIP finalists were treated to an afternoon of excitement and anticipation as mini-games gradually narrowed down the competition. From choosing numbered envelopes to firing airhorns, the tension rose until the final moment when Anita Cassim from Mittagong emerged victorious, clinching the coveted $5,000 cruise voucher.

“I’m going to take my lovely mum with me, we need a holiday… I can’t wait!” exclaimed an ecstatic Anita.

Nicholas Purdie, 2ST and PowerFM General Manager, emphasised the importance of local radio stations in bringing communities together, saying: “We were overwhelmed with entries and were proud to host this event at the Kangaroo Valley Friendly Inn, a local business that was heavily affected by COVID-19 and the floods that followed, which impacted tourism and trade.

“Events like Cruise Control highlight the unique bond between our stations and our listeners. We’re proud to create moments of joy and excitement while supporting local businesses, especially during challenging times.”
