Residents across the Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven who are living with asthma are being reminded to ensure their condition is properly managed.
It comes as latest ABS figures reveal there were 474 asthma-related deaths across the country last year with 325 of those females and 149 males.
Around 13 per cent of people in the Shoalhaven have asthma, that figures falls to just over 10 per cent in the Wingecarribee.
The figures are almost identical to last year, however, experts say more could be done to lower the mortality rate, especially amongst younger age groups.
Professor Peter Wark from the National Asthma Council is urging LOCALS to stay on top of the condition and make sure they’re speaking with their GP.
