Kiama Council has completed work to repair bank erosion along Blue Angle Creek, behind Seven Mile Beach.

The southern bank of Blue Angle Creek, a tributary of Crooked River, was being eroded by recreational activities and stormwater, as well as a lack of riparian vegetation.

The erosion was affecting the health of the Crooked River estuary via increased downstream sedimentation, which was in turn is a decline in water quality.

It was also threatening camp sites and cabins alongside the waterway at Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park, as well as reducing access for kayakers and other recreational users.

Council, working with the Soil Conservation Service (NSW Government), has now completed bank stabilisation and erosion control measures at key locations along the creek.

A dedicated canoe/kayak launch area has also been constructed and stormwater infrastructure repaired.

A further measure has been encouraging natural reed and mangrove growth, supplemented by plantings.
