Marine Rescue Shoalhaven volunteer Raymond Jones has received royal recognition in the King’s Birthday Honours list.
He was awarded the Emergency Services Medal for his service to the Shoalhaven community.
In 2013, Mr Jones rescued three spear fishers after their vessel overturned off Crookhaven Heads in rough conditions.
And last year he rescued two paddle boarders and a dog that had been swept out to sea across the Crookhaven bar.
Commissioner Alex Barrell said Ray deserves every accolade that comes his way.
“Ray has been an outstanding member of Marine Rescue Shoalhaven for more than 11 years,
“To have a man of Ray’s calibre amongst our ranks, is a real asset to the community,”Mr. Barrell said.
